Our goal is to help you excel during your time at KPU and beyond, whether you are a first-year student, returning to university after time away, or journeying from the other side of the globe. We recognize that joining a university community can be overwhelming, so our orientation process is designed to support students in accomplishing their goals.

New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation is our flagship welcome event at KPU. This event is to welcome new students to the KPU community, get to know the physical campus, and meet new people. It is an opportunity to familiarize yourself with all of the services and resources KPU has available to help you succeed. We host New Student Orientation before the start of each semester (Fall, Sumer, Spring).

New Student Orientation is...

An opportunity to discover KPU, learn about services and resources, meet fellow students and classmates, receive guidance from senior students, and have fun!

Our orientation Events are packed with learning, fun, and connection. A typical event includes:

  • Meeting a group of fellow new students from your Faculty, guided by a senior student leader
  • Receiving KPU merch and learn more about your area of study
  • Being led through a guided campus tour and learning about all the best spots on campus
  • A free lunch, fun activities, a campus services fair, and more!

New Student Checklists

There are a number of important items to be aware of before starting on your first day of classes. In an effort to make it easier, we have compiled all the tasks into the new student checklists below. Be sure to select the term you are planning on starting your classes to see the correct timelines!

Fall 2026 - New Student Checklist

Getting prepared and started for your first semester at KPU can be overwhelming. The following tasks are recommended to be completed within the timeline:

KPU Orientation Highlights

Curious about what to expect at New Student Orientation? Watch this highlight video to get an idea of the activities and learning! Students spend the day in faculty-based groups, led by student leaders. Students will get to know campus and find their classrooms, learn About KPU services and take care of essentials, meet new friends, and have fun along the way.

Online Orientation Course

KPU Online Orientation is a self-paced Moodle course designed for new students. Any new student can self-enroll and explore the course at their own pace, on their own time. The course is accessible all throughout your first-year so that you can refer to the information whenever you might need it.

Online Orientation is packed with information that we know new students are looking for, and provides helpful tips and strategies to help you thrive. Examples of the type of information you can find in the course is: 

  • How to navigate through Moodle, KPU’s online learning platform
  • Important dates and deadlines and where to access support
  • How to get to campus and information on parking and public transit
  • Detailed information on campus services and where to access them
  • Opportunities to Get Involved on campus and upcoming events
  • What you need to feel prepared for your first week of classes and decoding university terms (what is a credit?, how to read your timetable, etc.)
